Is it really worth it? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check out these statistics from DMV.org\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the United States:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">26% of all car collisions in 2014 involved cell phone use.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At least 9 people are killed every day because of a distracted driver.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than 1,000 people are injured every day due to a distracted driver.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2015 42% of teens say they have texted while driving\u2014and texting and driving is the leading cause of death in teens.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An astronomical amount of automobile collisions could be prevented if we put an end to texting and driving. Unfortunately, we have become so dependent on our phones that we sometimes use them without even noticing. The increased usage of social media has caused an incredibly addictive behavior to our cell phones both on and off the road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With stop-and-go traffic being so common in Staten Island, a quick glance at your phone could cause a collision. Even looking at your phone at a red light could be dangerous because drivers tend to jolt once they\u2019ve realized the light has turned green; this jolting and paranoid feeling causes an instant reaction to press on the gas which often leads to rear-end collisions. One of the best ways to prevent a texting and driving collision is to put your phone in your glove compartment or middle console as soon as you get in the car; out of sight, out of mind. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Distracted driving is deadly driving.
