Warning Signs that Your Car is in Need of a Tune-Up

Even though our cars aren’t able to talk to us, they can still communicate if you know how to listen. However, being able to drive a car does not make somebody an expert on how they work, and this can lead to people missing some of the signs that their car may be in need of some help. Check out these awesome tips on what car owners should look out for to know if their car is in need of a tune-up!

Difficulty in Starting

If your car is giving you a hard time when you go to start the ignition, this can be a sign of a number of potential issues such as problems with the battery and the fuel pump. If this problem persists, it is a good idea to have it checked out in order to keep the issue from progressing any further.

Knocking Sound/ Rough Idling

If your vehicle is continuously making a knocking noise when you accelerate or attempt to climb a hill, or if your vehicle feels rough when it is idling or accelerating, this could be a sign that your car is in need of a tune-up, if not a further repair beyond that.

Poor Gas Mileage

Does it seem like your vehicle’s gas mileage is just getting worse and worse? This could be a sign that the car isn’t burning the fuel in the way that it should be. Whether this be a result of a spark plugs issue or a problem with the fuel injectors, a tune-up may just be what your car needs to get back to burning gas efficiently

Difficulty Braking

This issue can be a tough one to notice, but is one of the most potentially dangerous if ignored. Brakes are one of the most important safety features in a vehicle, and if they are not working properly the result can be disastrous. However, because they decline slowly over time, noticing that there is a real issue can be a struggle. If you notice that your car is not braking as well as it used to, make the safe decision and bring it in for a tune-up.

Warning Lights

Your warning lights on your dashboard are one of the most effective ways in which your vehicle is able to communicate with you. If you see one of these lights come on, it means that an issue has progressed to the point where your vehicle feels as if action needs to be taken soon. When you see a warning light come on, address it as soon as possible and bring your car in for a tune up. It’ll keep you safe and keep your vehicle running smoothly longer.
