Our Painted Pinstripe Process
- Clean surface with soap and water
- Clean surface with Pre Kleano by Basf wax and silicone remover.
- Wipe dry with ultra fine detailing cloth and let dry
- Lay out 3m fine line tape kit to ensure nice tight and straight lines. We use this to insure exact straight lines and judge size of the stripes to be painted down to the exact millimeter
- Mix color and dab paint samples as many times as necessary to gain exact color match
- Use a few drops of Pre-Kleano by BASF to thin paint out for a nice even application
- Use a radiant heat gun to heat up car’s pinstripe area before applying (if cold)
- Use an ultra fine touch up brush dipped in paint for application (dab brush to make sure it is not too wet with paint to avoid drips)
- Go over pinstripe with the heat gun to help it dry quicker
- Once tacky remove fine line pinstriping tape that was used as our guide
- Once dry pass a very fine 3000 grit sand paper over stripe to smooth and flatten stripe out
- Clean and wax area to ensure no leftover residue
Our Taped Pinstriping Process
- Clean surface with soap and water
- Clean surface with Pre Kleano by Basf wax and silicone remover.
- Wipe dry with ultra fine detailing cloth and let dry
- Lay out 3m fine line tape to where stripe will be applied to ensure exact height and length of stripe
- Use a radiant heat gun to heat up car’s pinstripe area before applying (if cold)
- Tape front of stripe being applied to car in order to ensure proper placement of stripe
- Walk back and line up stripe tape to car where it will be placed.
- Use a plastic squeegee to press and apply taped pinstripe to the car.
- Peel back the clear film on stripe being applied leaving only the pinstripe itself
- Clean and wax area to ensure no leftover residue
